An Indiana Weekend

Last weekend I took the kids down to Anderson to visit my mom and my grandparents.  We had a great time and it was a wonderful weekend to spend outdoors with family.

Special THANK YOU to my fabulous grandmother who made my ALL TIME FAVORITE MEAL of Chicken and Noodles!  Divine!  :-)

Lily is so glad to have a girl cousin – she told me that she was going to ask Santa for a new baby doll so that she can give Emma her old one…so sweet!

In other news of the week, Jack is down in Indy for a week w/ Pappaw, Nana, and Aunt Kensi.  I spoke with him last night and he is having a great time going to Colts Training Camp, Indy Children’s Museum, the State Fair (told me he was going to see BIG PIG and eat junk food!), a waterpark today, and lots of other fun things.  So special – I don’t know who is having more fun, Jack or Pappaw!

We are enjoying our private time with Emma and said the other night – How did we ever think that just having an infant was hard?  It is a breeze without a crazy toddler running around!  :-)

Tomorrow is GIRLS NIGHT OUT for me – Yippee!  Jack comes home on Saturday afternoon and then we are headed to a local minor league baseball game – fun weekend ahead!

This week’s bounty

I know this looks like a lot.

And it is.

But I forgot to change my “standing order” from last week when I switched it up and ordered a different box of goodies, so we got double!  But I figured it really isn’t a bad thing, since most of it can either be washed/cut/frozen, or made into baby food (yes, only a short couple of months and Em will be chomping down!).

-a few cucumbers (eaten raw/dipped in hummus, in salads), cauliflower (to be roasted or mashed!/frozen), corn (Jack’s fave), yellow wax beans (interesting), green beans, carrots (soup/baby food), yellow squash and zucchini (shredded and “hidden” in Jack’s muffins, eggs, ANYTHING!), honeydew and cantaloupe, lots of lettuce and spinach for my daily lunch salads, an eggplant (eggplant parmesan next week!), oranges, peaches, grapes, blueberries, jalapenos (maybe some oven poppers?!), avocado, and some tomatillos (Scott will like the chillaquiles next week with these puppies). And…they were offering organic SHORT RIBS (my friends know these are my FAVE) so I picked up 2lb of those!  YUMMMM.

So…we are going to be vegetarians next week!  :-)

The kids and I are off to Indiana this weekend to spend some time w/ my Mom/Grandparents and then Jack is spending the week in Indy with Pappaw!  I foresee lots of swimming, digging, and general mayhem in his future!  So fun.

Drumroll Please...

I know that I have been blogging a ton more than usual lately, but the kids are so darn fun and cute at this age, I can't help but record every moment and share! And I have really enjoyed writing; I forgot how much I enjoyed that when I was younger...(My brother and Mom can attest to the time I spent "copying" books and writing in a TINY little notebook...)

So, without further adu. (is that how you spell that?)

My, How Times Have Changed

A couple of weekends ago, Jane and I took Emma and Caroline to the Sheffield Garden Walk – a very fun and popular street fest that we have frequented about every year since we moved here from Oxford. 

This year was a little different, however. 

The staying out and stumbling home at 2AM has changed to strolling from 11-2PM.  The hanging out by the live band (Rusted Root this year) has turned into hanging in the “kids section” and sipping on ONE Coors Light.  The hitting up Lincoln Ave Pizza late-night has turned to hitting up actual gardens on the way home for naps.

We wouldn’t have it any other way.
