2 going on 25…

Jack has been a barrel of laughs lately. Here is a list of his latest funnies – I am finding myself mentally strained after a day spent with him.  He is so fun and I can see him picking up traits from Scott and I every day in his words and expressions.

Jack:  “What do birds eat, Ama?”

Ama (Scott’s mom):  “I think they eat ladybugs.”

Jack:  “No, Ama, birds eat worms.”

Jack – looking at Pop:  “What doing, Ken?”

Jack – looking at me:  “What doing Melissa?”

Scenario – Scott, Jack and I sitting at a diner for breakfast last week.  The Hispanic waiter walks by:

Jack: “Mommy, it’s Pappaw!, Hi Pappaw!”  (my dad is very tan w/ black hair)

I thought we were going to fall out of our chairs laughing so hard!

…2 minutes later that same breakfast, an older man w/ a long white beard walks in…

Jack:  “Santa!!!!!”

Jack:  “I pooped and it smells bad, Dad.”

_______________________________________________

Scott:  “Do you want another taco, Jack?”

Jack, shrugging shoulders:  “I guess.”

Jack:  “Scott, watch this!” as he jumps over a stick

Me:  “Jack, you are such a funny jokester.”

Jack:  “No, Mom, I’m serious.”

_______________________________________________

Jack:  “Mommy, when baby come out?”

Me:  “Soon.”

Jack:  “Baby cry when it comes out.”

Me:  “Yes, the baby will probably cry and we will give it hugs.”

Jack:  “I push the baby, Mom.  Fall down and go boom.”

Uh oh…

Scenario – Jack saw 4 deer in the woods at his grandparent’s house:

Pop:  “Jack, look at that baby deer, it has a hurt leg and is limping.”

Jack:  “Oh no, we find deers Mommy and she kiss it and squeeze it make it feel better.  Let’s go find her, Pop.”

Our Valentine

Jack and I got our valentine one day late...Daddy is home!

He had a great trip (okay, maybe not great, but very interesting). We will post his pics this week, but he definetly expereinced a lot and came back even more grateful for the freedoms and blessings that we have here in America.

The Taj Mahal

Jack was so cute when he first saw him - he stood up in his crib and just stated laughing! Then we snuggled in bed and went out for breakfast (I took the day off) - followed by a 3 hour nap by all and more play- it was a fabulous day.

YAY - I do have to say that I have even more respect for single mothers and fathers after being one for 2 weeks. Not only did I miss the "help," but what I missed the most is having someone to share the funny things that Jack did and said throughout the day and having someone to look at and laugh with. Feels right that he is home and I can't wait to learn more about his adventure.

Happy Birthday to ME!

Well, today is my 31st birthday! My parents always made my birthday week so special growing up, and I have tried to continue that tradition with Jack the past 2 years. This year is different, however, as Scott is still in India and he does a good job of making my birthday nice, so it is sad that he will not be here! :-( We are going to dinner next week, however, and I went ahead and made myself appointments for a manicure, pre-natal massage, and haircut for a Sunday that he is back. :-) My girlfriends and I celebrated our Jan/Feb bdays last weekend and it was so nice to get a GNO! We also had a fun “craft Saturday” and made really cool Valentine’s chair-backers for the kids – we are so nerdy!

Jack and I are headed up to Libertyville to spend our last weekend alone with Scott’s parents. He is getting over his double ear-infection, but now I think I am getting sick, so it will be really nice to have some help and relax at their home. My in-laws couch is addicting – it is just one of those places that you want to stay all day and my father in law builds the best fires in their awesome fireplace – with the new addition of their 46” TV, I may never leave that spot! :-)

We were up there last weekend for Jack’s actual bday and took the train down to the Children’s Museum. He had a great time and it was an extra special treat to ride on the train although he kept telling me “Jack DRIVE the train, Mommy?”

Finally...Jack's party pics

I finally got time to put together photos from Jack’s 2nd birthday party last weekend. He had a great time – Thank you to all of our friends and family who joined in the fun and to those that could not attend but sent very nice wishes and gifts. Also thanks to Jane and Emily who took the majority of these shots so that I could enjoy the party!

Jack is very proud to raise “2” fingers (and uses his thumb and pointer finger to do so, funny) and when we ask him if he is a baby, he says “No, I’m a big boy!” Don’t grow up too fast, buddy!!!

Enjoy!!

Birthday Week Days #2-4

I have been lax on the blog this week, but being a preggo single mom is hard work and I have been asleep early – so much respect for those moms/dads that do this every day!

Jack and I have been spending great time together and he has been great!  I will have some good “Jack-ism’s” for next week, that is for sure.  We Skyped with Scott last night and Jack loved every minute of it.  He kept “High-five Daddy?” through the screen and trying to give him fist-bumps.  He was enamored with looking at himself, it was really cute.  I think it will make the trip much easier for us all to be able to see each other; amazing, amazing technology!  And it is free!!!

So…this week has been full of special treats – movies, juice boxes, cupcakes, picnics, etc.  Tonight our friend Courtney is coming over for a girls night – sushi and a movie – and I am sure that Jack will sneak in some special treats and kisses with Auntie Courtney.  Tomorrow I am going to take him on some fun errands and then my girlfriends are coming over for lunch/craft Saturday (yes, we are that nerdy).  So…it is a week/weekend of special things for Jack, but good girlfriend time for Mommy, too!

We are headed up to Pop and Ama’s house for his actual birthday on Sunday.  We are planning on taking the train (he told me he is actually going to DRIVE the train) from their house to the Children’s Museum on Sunday and then stay up there for a birthday celebration, gifts, and the SUPERBOWL!

I am really hoping that Scott can catch the game in Calcutta – it will be on at 4:30am where he is, but hopefully he will be able to see our favorite team pull out the victory.

So…On to a weekend of fun for Jacky’s big #2!

family and GOOOOO HORSE!!!!!

Our Daddy-Man

Today is a sad day in our house, although it is also DAY #2 of Jack’s Birthday Week.

IMG_5026

Our Daddy-Man leaves this afternoon for India for 2 weeks and we are very sad…people on the train probably thought I was crazy this morning bawling the entire way to work and I just had to borrow mascara from one of my co-workers to re-apply.  I am trying to make myself feel better by buying myself a venti full-fat Cinnamon Dolce Latte and 3 sprinkles mini-donuts from Sbux (got my Gold Card yesterday – awesome, it made my night), and they seem to be helping a bit until I think about him being gone.  I have a girlfriend, Adrian, whose husband is in the Navy and has been deployed several times for long stints (like 7 months) and in no-way does this compare, but it really made me think of her this morning and respect her even more for dealing with his absence (and she has a 2 year old!).

So…in light of our little pity party, I think that what Jack and I need tonight is a “We love Daddy party” to celebrate day #2.  I am thinking some kind of junk-food picnic and a movie before bed…he is obsessed with his “Elmo’s Christmas Countdown” DVD that Uncle Heath got him, so I am sure that is what he will pick to lift our spirits.

WE LOVE YOU, HONEY!  Have a fun (okay, interesting) trip and we will be waiting for you to come home to us safe and sound!!!

XOXOXO

Jack’s Birthday Week – Day #1!!

cheese

Our sweet baby boy turns 2 this coming Sunday!  We had his official party yesterday (pictures to upload later) and he had a great time.  Mommy and Daddy were exhausted last night – but it was all worth it.

So…it is Jack’s birthday week and for his Day #1 special treat – he is having a dinner of heart-shaped grilled cheese and apples with Nutella…yummy chocolate!

XOXOXOXO Jacky Boy!
