stickers and spanish

for about the past week, emma has been giving me a sticker in the morning before i leave for work (from jack's responsibility chart - sidenote: he has woken up dry for 4 mornings this week!). she insists that i put it on my hand (Mommy, wear it?!) and i have been receiving comments from co-workers. I LOVE it - every time i look down i think of my Tweeter and smile.

Jack and I had the most interesting 20 minute conversation in bed last night. he asked me about dinosaurs and "why are they unstinked (extinct), mom?" I told them that God wanted to put people on the Earth and so he made the Earth's temperature really different. That moved into "when are people going ot be unstinked?" Well...I told him never. Then he asked me if where he was when the dinosaurs went "unstinked" and I told him that God had not put him in my belly yet. It seriously went on and on...poor little guy could not stop thinking about it, trying to process the situation.

Then we had a conversation about being scared and he asked me what i was scared of. I told him that I didn't care for heights (to which he said "But Mom, you can't be scared of being high up. You work in a very tall building") and i didn't really like snakes or mice. I asked him the same question back, and he told me that he was scared of Daddy Long Legs (because he doesn't like how they feel on his skin - the kid REALLY hates bugs), and Giants. I assured him that Giants weren't real, and he said "Well, they are to me!" He followed that up by saying "I think my Daddy is afraid of pumas. I mean, he is actually really fast, but pumas are faster."

It was hilarious.

Then he left me with this little gem before we fell asleep -

"Mom - do you know how to say the word KID in spanish? CHILD"
"Mom - do you know how to say the word ADULT in spanish? GROWN-UP"

I also have to note that his favorite word this day is "Actually" and he starts a lot of sentences with it ---- "ACTUALLY, Mom, I was thinking that we could do this..."


We are off to Scott's parents for the long weekend - looking forward to some lake-time, bike-riding, s'mores, and being outside to celebrate Summer!
