one more place off the bucket list

Wow.

There is nothing quite like NYC during the Holidays – MAGICAL, I tell you!

I was seriously in AWE of Times Square – so many people, so much hustle and bustle, SOOO many lights! Our hotel was literally right in between TSQ and Rockefeller Center/5th Avenue, so we were in a great spot to see it all and really experience NYC!

Times Square – it was like Daylight!

We had a WONDERFUL time! It was SOOO nice to get away just the two of us and have time to enjoy each other, walk around, SLEEP IN (until 10:30am!), eat yummy street fare (we tried the NYC Pizza, NYC Hot Dog, and NYC Deli – ALL AWESOME!), and shop! We packed a lot into 2 days, 1 night – Rockefeller, Shopping up 5th Ave, World Trade Center Site, Central Park, Battery Park, Times Square, Broadway Show – West Side Story, Eating, Little Italy, ChinaTown, riding the subway…so lucky that we had great weather.

Yes, I WAS that Nerd that stood in the Plaza by the Today Show and watched Nick Lachey! Dreamy!

So great that they have food trucks on every corner!

Central Park was HUGE and Gorgeous!

Macys was PURE INSANITY!

YUMMMMMO – Scott had 6 slices!

Honestly, I could sit in a black, windowless room with my husband and have a good time – but this was so neat to experience together and I am so grateful that we were able to have some time to CELEBRATE our marriage and our lives during this Holiday Season! It was a trip that I will never forget.

Jack started soccer on Saturday and it was the CUTEST thing…he started smiling and jumping around the instant that we walked into the complex – A.DOR.A.BLE!

It is called ‘Lil Kickers and is a pretty popular program here in Chi-town. It is all play and fun, but they will definetly learn some skills, and Scott (or me during tax season) gets to be out on the field with him, which is super-fun. He introduced himself to “Coach Gomez” and was excited to be with other kids and generally just run around and be wild!

Can’t wait for next week’s practice!

fun weekend & new tricks!

whew…it was fun, but i am glad past weekend is over!

Friday…

this almost-32 year old-mom-of-two does not deal well with two consecutive nights of going out, too many adult beverages, and very little sleep! my company holiday party was friday night which i was in charge of planning – so after all of that work for 250 people, i was ready to tie one on!

Saturday…

saturday morning was rough (putting it mildly), but scott was a godsend and took the kiddos outside for a while as we woke up to our first Chicago snowfall! we live on the 2nd floor with lots of trees, so it looks like we are living in a snowy treehouse - so pretty.

then, jack had his first soccer “practice” – it was worth every penny to see the pure joy on his face when he stepped into the complex – more of #9’s first kicks later…

saturday night was my annual xmas dinner/night on the town with my best friends from chicago. it was a blast as usual with these ladies, even though i couldn’t enjoy myself as much as i would have liked from my “overage” on friday. Who knew that we would have to visit 5 different bars to find one open at 12am on a Saturday night in Chicago? Seriously?! Special CONGRATS to Courtney and Ian who got engaged that morning – we are so excited for you!

Sunday…

was the day for NEW TRICKS for Miss Emma Grace!

In the past 2 days she seriously learned how to wave hello, kiss on command (yes, like a puppy), pivot to a sit from a crawl (uh, awesome), play peek-a-boo, eating some solids by picking them up, and is pulling up on EVERYTHING that she can stand! It was CRAZY to watch her do all of these things – AHHH!!!! It is scaring me that in a short 2 months she might be walking around like Jack was.

We also got our Xmas tree (literally one of the last Frasiers at Home Depot...oops!) and are putting up the lights/ornaments this week –Jack walked out to the hung stockings yesterday and said “Mommy! Did SANTA come last night? Is it Christmas Day???!!!!” It made me so excited for the look on his face 12/25!
