Sophia Mae is 9 months old! So…here are 9 things about her at this age:
1. She is starting to MOVE! Not crawling, and really doesn’t seem to have the desire or arm strength to get up on all fours, but she swirls around on her belly and flips over enough to get where she wants to go. We’ll see if that continues or if she finds some motivation…(I think she just likes to be held!)
2. The girl LOVES to eat. One of the only time she fusses is when you aren’t feeding her fast enough. She is doing great with grasping small foods like bananas, avocados, strawberries, pasta, and cheese, but is also still being fed purees. Favorites at this stage include pears, mashed potatoes (gets it honest from Momma), yogurt, avocado, strawberries, puffs, veggie sticks, and pasta. Also taking 4-5 bottles @ 6oz each a day.
3. Her laugh is contagious! Things that really make her laugh are her brother, getting shoulder rides, pulling her sibling’s hair, being ticked, jumping up and down, and peek-a-boo. She is starting to predict things and is fun to play with – Jack and Emma love it when she wakes up in the morning.
4. Favorite toys are her LeapFrog picnic basket (taking things in and out, over and over again), her pop-up animal toy, empty coffee cups, her big barn activity cube, bowls and spoons, and balls of any kind. She is very content to sit and play with what is in front of her for 15-20 minutes at a time, which is great during lunch-time or when I am trying to get things done during the day!
5. Sleep, glorious sleep. Soph goes to bed between 6:15-6:30 (so early, i know, but she is exhausted!) and wakes up around 7:30am. She sometimes awakens during the night for a quick paci-in, snuggle, or 4oz of bottle. One thing that she has been doing is consistently peeing through her diaper – any ideas? I have been changing her again around 12:00 and that helps, but i really hate to ruin her sleep flow! But if I don’t she wakes up soaking wet at 6am. Also takes 2 naps a day – 1 around 9:30 (or later if we are out and about) for an hour and one with Emma around 1:30 for approx. 2 hours.
6. Sophia is babbling up a storm. YAYAYAYAY is a big one, as well as DADADADADADA and just various sounds. I have started to sign with her, especially during eating times – More, All Done, Thank you; we’ll see if she takes to it as well as Jack and Emma did near this age. I hope so – it makes life SOOOO much easier if they can communicate!
7. Don’t know her exact measurements yet, as her 9 month appt isn't until next month, but I still say she is on the long side and probably getting back to the middle for weight. She really took off with eating since her 6 month appointment, and I stopped nursing 2 weeks ago (sad), so bring 100% on formula probably helps pack on the lbs also.
8. Soph still has the most joyful little personality. Most of the time she is very happy and content to just be around us all. Fusses when I leave the room, if you take food away, and when she is exhausted, but that is about it! People are always commenting on how smiley she is and what a happy child she seems to be.
9. Still gummy! She has had a clear running nose for weeks now, and is chewing on fingers and everything else in sight, but NO SIGN of any teeth! I am fine with all of this “delayed” milestones – STAY A BABY AS LONG AS POSSIBLE!!!
So there you have it, 9 thing about our cute, sweet, little Soph.
We Love You, Gophers!
Such a little doll!! Tyler was consistently peeing through his night time diapers too (we used pampers baby dry) and we switched him to huggies night time and went a size up...helped a TON and he doesn't pee through them anymore. Might be worth a shot. Hope all is well :)
