a very green kidswap

Not only was it a fun St. Patty’s day weekend around here, but we had cousins Lily & Sammy for Kidswap weekend!  My sister-in-law and I started these fun weekends last fall where we take their 2 kids for a weekend, and then they take our 3 for a weekend a month or so later.  It is great, as not only do the kids have a terrific time, but both sets of parents get a great – one totally alone, and the other pair has their kids very entertained!

we started the weekend with our usual pizza and movie night, followed by an awesome concert set to Justin Beiber, and cousin sleepover snuggles:

 

Saturday was time to bring on the St. Patty’s day magic and have some fun!  The whole troupe went to Jack’s final indoor soccer game, so he had a big cheering section, which he loved.  Back home for a very green lunch and play, play, play…

 

A couple of hours of swimming at the YMCA, and then on to a very green dinner with broccoli/spinach soup, green milk, and leprechaun floats!  Then on to the real fun of setting our Leprechaun Trap!  They had so much fun with this – decorating it, engineering it, Lily writing the letter, talking about what would happen if they caught it, and then finally being a little scared/nervous when they went to bed!

But….all of their hard work and no leprechaun!  “Lucky” did stop by, pee green in our toilet (they were absolutely AMAZED at this), and left gummi bears, necklaces, tattoos, and green silly string!  Not only did it entertain them last night, but this morning they must have talked about how they were going to “tweak” their design next year to make sure they catch him (this includes using a wooden box, and putting tape on the inside to make him stick inside). 

Following a green breakfast, we made a little St. Patty’s day artwork, played more outdoors (despite the 30 degree weather, they happily played outside for 2 hours!), and finally had to say their goodbyes, which are always sad and everyone cries on the way home. 

All in all, a very fun weekend with awesome cousins and some St. Patty’s day fun!
