Jack just wrapped up his indoor soccer season and we can safely say that “Team Florida” pretty much dominated. :-) Seriously, I’m not being “that mom” but there were many, many games that the other little team did not score or even get near their goal.
The part district uses all volunteer coaches (AKA Dads) and we got lucky with Coach Ibro – an eastern european dad who obviously knows a lot about soccer, was super enthusiastic and also had a son on the team that scored about 90% of the team’s goals and was pretty much Jack’s idol for the season!
It was fun to see the team progress and start working together more with passing, assists, and cheering each other on. Who knows what Jack will be like as a player in the years to come, but at least for this season, he was very much more of a defender than an agressive offensive player. You could usually see him trying to predict where the other team would kick the ball and then running back near the goal. This is in line with what he likes to do at home also – play goalie or power-kick it back to you; not dribble and try to score.
We’ll see – Jack REALLY loves soccer right now and is totally into it, which is super fun! Outdoor starts in about a month – can’t wait for rainy games, muddy cleats, and more cheering! :-)
